Howard Finsters Paradise Garden, Summerville, Georgia

Howard Finster built Paradise Garden as a testament to God. When you visit, you have no question of his devotion and faith. Constructed from mostly discarded items, the Garden stretches the length of the late Finsters property. I originally visited here in 1996 when I was still in the early stages of being a photographer. I have always wanted to return with my current skills and see what images I could make. So when the opportunity arose to spend the night there, it felt like a dream come true.

The Bamboo Room - Savannah, GA

I had the pleasure of making some images for The Bamboo Room, and for those who are seeking a tropical escape in Historic Savannah, look no further than above Sorry Charlie's to The Bamboo Room Tiki Bar. Your worries melt away as you enter. When visiting the little oasis, expect delicious tiki and tiki-inspired cocktails, frozen drinks, friendly people and funky vibes. I was able to attend the soft opening and the drink and food selections were amazing. I can’t wait to return! Visit them at www.bambooroomtikibar.com

Savannah Stopover 2020

Savannah Stopover celebrated its 10th year with a impressive lineup. I had the pleasure of photographing performances again this year, and, as always, I was not disappointed. I saw shows by Country Mice, Tall Tall Trees, The Bones of JR Jones, Devotchka, Shovels and Rope, Jeremie Albino, and the Mobros. Stopover has become a Savannah staple and is now a must-do for bands heading to South by South West. Here are a few samples from the weekend. Thanks!

Australia - North South Wales

Spent a lovely week in Hyams Beach, NSW, Australia recently. I was able to see family and have some time to explore and make some images. Here is a selection:

Sapelo Island, Georgia

I just spent a few nights on Sapelo Island, Georgia and of course made some images while there. My wife and I had a cool place located in Hog Hammock. Population 70. Talk about quaint! Enjoy!!

Illiterate Light - Savannah Stopover Festival 2019

I got to meet Illiterate Light while they were in Savannah for Savannah Stopover Festival this past March. For a two-man band, these guys pack a punch and brought down the house! Great Sound. Great energy!

New Mexico 2019

Just recently spent a week in Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, and had a blast! I would recommend a visit to the area to anyone! Seems as though late spring is the time to go. You can beat the crowds and the weather is perfect. Here is a selection of images from the trip. Thanks for looking!!

Slothrust at The Jinx Savannah

Great show at The Jinx Savannah last night. Headlining was a band from L.A. called Slothrust. Leah and her band, Kyle and Will, decided to completely blow the walls off the venue. Seriously… it’s open air now. For more about the band, visit slothrust.com.

Slothrust is principal songwriter, guitar player and unrepentant aesthete Leah Wellbaum, with drummer Will Gorin and bassist Kyle Bann. On their fourth full-length album The Pact, Slothrust constructs a luscious, ethereal cosmos perforated with wormy portals and magic wardrobes, demonstrating more clearly than ever the band’s deft shaping of contrasting sonic elements to forge a muscular sound that’s uniquely their own

Enmarket Photoshoot

I was happy to be selected as the photographer for an Enmarket promotional shoot last summer. The images were part of a rebranding campaign and also to be enlarged and hung in stores in the Savannah area. The models came from Halo Talent Agency here in Savannah. They made my job so much easier.

Aaron Diehl

Aaron Diehl is a classically trained pianist and composer, who has made an indelible mark on the jazz world over the last 15 years. While showing a rare affinity for early jazz and mid-20th century “third-stream” music, his latest evolution comes as he begins to tackle modern classical works.

Having performed Gershwin with the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, and Los Angeles Philharmonic in the last year, he is also performing the piano works of Philip Glass in numerous locales, both in the U.S. and abroad.

I was lucky enough to steal him away from a performance at the 2019 Savannah Music Festival to take some photos of Aaron around downtown Savannah’s Jones Street and at my studio.

Ashton Taylor of Ashton Taylor Interiors

Ashton Taylor of Ashton Taylor Interiors was in need of promotional portraits for her website and other marketing materials and I was happy to be the one she called for help. To give her a good selection of options we shot portraits and headshots in the studio and also on-site in a downtown Savannah home Ashton designed. Here is a selection of images from the shoot.

Velvet Caravan at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts

In September 2018 Savannah Stopover Music Festival sponsored an evening of music with Savannah’s beloved Gypsy Jazz and Latin Swing band, Velvet Caravan at the historic Lucas Theatre.

Renowned Jazz vocalist Annie Sellick joined the band, adding a vocal element to Velvet Caravan’s normally instrumental performances and Atlanta’s balkan band Mercury Orkestar opened the concert.

Don’t forget to check them out Velvet Caravan on January 11th, 2019 at Trinity Church in Savannah: https://www.facebook.com/events/358440678246237/
